About AccountAid India
AccountAid India is a private consulting organisation, which was set up 1992. It works with Agencies and NGOs on accounting and related issues. These issues include accounting structure, compliance with FCRA, Income Tax, Societies Act, budgeting, and donor reporting. AccountAid India works only through Agencies and does not enter into client-relationships with implementing NGOs.
Workshops
AccountAid™
persons have participated as key resource persons in workshops organized by
various agencies for their NGO partners or for their own program team. These
include Actionaid, CAPART, CARE, CRS, CRY, Diakonia, EZE, Ford Foundation,
Oxfam America, Oxfam India Trust, Swissaid among other various network groups.
AccountAid conducts these workshops mainly in collaboration with the concerned
Agencies. AccountAid India has also contributed as a member of the Task Force
set up by the Planning Commission on Laws affecting Voluntary Sector.
In
1999, AccountAid designed and started conducting specialized Grant Management
workshops. These workshops, targeted at program and accounts people working in
Grant-making Agencies, have proved quite popular.
Reference Material
AccountAid
develops its own training material based on needs felt during the field visit
to the NGOs and provides training related to basic accounting, FCRA, Income
Tax, other legal requirement for NGOs, project monitoring etc. It brings out 'AccountAble,'
a bi-monthly circular in color, which is circulated to about 6,000 persons,
including Chartered Accountants. It is also available through e-mail, on a
complimentary basis. It brings out the Hindi version of Accountable as Lekha
Yog. It publishes Auditable
especially for Chartered Accountants. It also brings out 'AccountAble
Asia,' a quarterly circular in color, which is circulated to
about 800 people all around South Asian countries. Many organizations use our
training material during workshops (such as Bombay Chartered Accountants
Society) or for development of other material (such as Accounting Manual for
NGOs by Sida).
Some of the reference material, including earlier issues
of AccountAble and FCRA forms, is available on our web site at http://www.accountaid.net.
The web-site also provides an e-mail link for answering NGO questions in
confidence and on a complimentary basis.
Field-based Accounting Advice
AccountAid
also field-based provides training and advice to NGOs in accounting and
financial management systems. This is done through periodic field visits. The
objective of such support is capacity building rather than out-sourcing. These
services are normally arranged through the concerned grant-making agencies.
Staff
AccountAid
staff includes persons with diverse backgrounds such as education, cost
accounting, rural banking and mass communication. It also draws on the
experience of professional accountants on a regular basis, who also visit the
field.
